Spiritual Mentoring
Shifting your focus from the busy, distracting, sensory-rich external life, to the quiet, contemplative, spiritually-rich inner life, takes commitment, focus, and self honesty.
Still, spirituality is best experienced when it is woven into every aspect of life.
The meditations and exercises, such as you will find on this site, or in the book "At Your Heart`s Pace", are designed to keep you in touch with your inner life at all times. They help you to speed up your spiritual progress, making it possible to become better and better at attaining and holding a sense of peace and happiness - those higher states of consciousness - in the midst of the daily tumult. We all carry emotional baggage. Unconscious beliefs, emotional traumas and hidden resistance help us sabotage our practice. Primal fears, such as the fear of death, cause great resistance to change. It can be difficult, even for the most practiced spiritual seeker, to identify and neutralize such established focus. When Feeling "stuck" use MentoringThe most common reason people given for engaging in spiritual mentorship is a feeling of being stuck in their practice. It is the experience of feeling unable to get past the issue, or issues confronting them. Feeling stuck is a very important indication of resistance. The resistance may be expressed as a belief, a misunderstanding, a fear, but it is a block that is preventing them from moving forward. Although commonly experienced by most spiritual seekers, many aspects of it will be unique to you. Spiritual mentoring can help you to root out such blocks, such resistance. You become more able to live from your heart. Why not get clarity, encouragement, tools and motivation to move through any block. Spiritual Mentorship enables breakthroughsReaching a plateau in spiritual living is also a common occurance. It is a feeling that you cannot advance, no matter what you do. It feels different than being stuck. It feels like inertia. As you become more practiced, you learn to recognize many of the issues that stop you. Recognizing does not necessarily help you be rid of them. Practice with the tools provided on this site, or in Ellen's book, help you to deal with most of these yourself. Still, as you progress along your path and become skilled at erasing such blocks, you may encounter subtle impediments that defy easy identification. These blocks are expressed as plateauing. You feel like you are going nowhere. Such discouragement can stop you. At the same time, they eventually move you toward reassessing your concept of progress. You begin to see that you cannot judge what to do, where to go, or even how to proceed. You begin to meet the paraxodical. Having access to Ellen's many years of practice both with her own blocks, as well as those of her students and clients, offers you a way to move gracefully into the next phase of your spiritual life. Commitment to an accelerated paceAnnoyances and details are the stuff of spiritual practice. It does little good to spend an hour in meditation, or to practice a moment of peace, if only to be frustrated and annoyed by life's daily experiences. What if you were to live it, moment to moment, experience by experience, until you become it. An accelerated spiritual journey is about taking a broad, all inclusive view of the details of life, making them one focus. To do so you learn to apply techniques that refocus you and align you with your intention. Then your spiritual practice unfolds at your Heart's pace, and that pace is set by your willingness rather than your resistance. When you are clear about wanting peace, for example, no experience prevents you from choosing it. When you get caught by a block, such as wanting to be right, wanting revenge, being sad, you can choose to re-apply your peaceful intention and return to the preferred state. However, by committing yourself to such an accelerated pace, you open yourself to eventually resolving the negative personal issues in order to progress. The Inner Self, your Inner Heart, happily brings you face-to-face with your next challenge and will do so as quickly as you are willing. You can trust your Inner Heart to set the pace, but it will never do so against your will. Only you choose the goals upon which to set your pace.
