Being a Reiki Practitioner

Reiki took over my life in 1990 and by 1994 I became a teacher and master. Many wonderful experiences happend to me, to my students and to my clients. Living with Reiki for so long has taught me how how it changes lives. Its transformative power seems unlimited.

The oral teaching and story of Reiki is passed from teacher to student. Our stories, however, are often untapped. By sharing them, we offer encouragement to each other. We have a wealth of personal experience to share. We have a treasure trove of unexpressed experiences tucked away in our memories. Consider sharing your stories with me and I will post some of them here on this site.

Telling the heart-opening, and the thought-provoking, will make obvious the common love that radiates its golden light throughout our lives. We do so by living with and honouring the energy we call Reiki.

Student's Experiences Vary

Student's experiences with Reiki vary. Some initiates may have a personal healing event which is powerful and life changing. Others may witness or have their own gradual physical, mental, or emotional shifts - a permanent healing. These events change the whole context of the student's life.

In stark contrast are those who experience Reiki as dilute, powerless and quite disappointing. They don't feel the flow of energy or else they experience it as inconsistent. These students become discouraged and filled with doubt. They may give up on the whole idea of channeling energy or may search for a "better" Reiki or a better way to heal. They may decide that they cannot "do" Reiki and stop applying it. They may conclude that only the teacher or master has the power to heal. These students have yet to discover that what is flowing from their hands heals when the conditions are right.

How to Increase Your Experience of Reiki

Give yourself a daily self-treatment.

A few days of soaking in Reiki energy; even a few days of sharing about it with your peers, can change your whole experience of it.

As a practioner, it is up to you to offer the Reiki healing energy when it is requested. It is then literally "out of your hands" as to whether the person is healed. Let go of feeling responsible for the results.

Always ask that the session be for the Highest Good.

Let go of your own will and desire to heal

Humility reveals that you cannot be the healer, Reiki is. Healing occurs in the mind of the receiver.

Trust what does happen in the Reiki session. We cannot know what is the best for another person. Great trials in life offer opportunities to burn off past errors and may reveal a more loving, peaceful way to live.

Trust Reiki - Shift happens
